Internet Dial-InCheck the following information:
- User name and password, compare this information with our letter. Enter this information again and note upper and lower case usage.
- Dial-up number: see Dial-up numbers
- Don't forget to enter the extension number before the number if you're connected to a switchboard.
- Check the modem configuration according to our instructions (is the correct COM port selected?). In general, you have two choices.
1. You can ring our dial-up number in Switzerland directly. This dial-up number would then be, country code for Switzerland, exchange code without the leading zero 5550089.
Example: 0041565550089.
2. You use our global dial-up software. iPass
ISDN dial backup in conjunction with ADSL describes the ability to establish a dial-up connection automatically via an external modem or one that is integrated in the ADSL modem/router when the ADSL connection is interrupted.
You can find out from the manufacturer whether an ADSL device supports this function.
With the ISDN Backup Service of green.ch can be ensured that over the ISDN Backup the fixed IP address range of a xDSL connection is assigned on the dial-up connection. Yes, because ADSL works on a different frequency on the line, the line is free for telephone traffic. This means that you can phone (or fax) and browse the Internet at the same time, even if you have an analogue telephone connection. Even if ADSL is operated on the same line as the ISDN or analogue connection, it does not affect use of the telephone and fax. We use traffic to mean all data transmissions that pass over the Internet. This applies to both directions, from you to the Internet (e.g. sending an e-mail) and from the Internet to you (e.g. displaying a Web page, downloading programs). Thus for example, e-mails, surfing, downloads, games etc. are recorded and calculated. The amount of traffic generated depends not only on the time you spend on the Internet, but also what you do there. For example, an e-mail or chat text clearly generates much less traffic than a download or a video conference. There are no transmission limits in our ADSL offerings. You will very soon see a noticeable increase in sales. Please report your move to Swisscom Fixnet. Indicate the date when service should commence at the new residence.
Please use our contact form to inform us about the change. DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line. In German: digitale Teilnehmer-Anschlussleitung. There are various DSL variants, which all share the same basic Digital Subscriber Line technology. ADSL is a variant of DSL and stands for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line. ADSL technology uses the conventional telephone line, but offers different speeds depending on the transfer direction. That is why it is called "asymmetrical". Downstream, i.e. towards the user, transfer rates up to 2 Mbit/s are possible (ISDN: 64 Kbit/s or 128 Kbit/s with channel bundling). Transfer speeds in the other direction can reach 352 Kbit/s. If the same bandwidths were assigned to both channels, the configuration would be called SDSL (Synchronous...). Other DSL are also in development, for example HDSL and VDSL. In Switzerland, Swisscom Fixnet Wholesale provides ADSL and defines its technical parameters. Therefore, only devices recommended by Swisscom Fixnet Wholesale can be guaranteed to work properly. The splitter is only used if you have a digital (ISDN) telephone connection. The function of the splitter is split to two frequency bands for ISDN (up to 120 KHz) and ADSL (138 KHz and up). Effectively, it separates the telephone frequencies from the higher-frequency ADSL frequencies and transmits them to the corresponding devices (telephone or FAX/ISDN modem). Firmware is the operating system for the modem. It controls processing of incoming and outgoing data packets. InstallationIn this case, you must first submit the ISDN application to Swisscom and then wait for the transfer. Yes, you can connect your network to ADSL with a router. The router must support the PPPoE protocol (RFC 2516). This means that any user on the LAN can use broadband ADSL Internet access. Yes, ADSL connection can be used on freephone circuits. IPassiPass is a global dial-up software program that enables you to get Internet access anywhere in the world for the cost of a local call. 1. A green.ch login account for the iPass Service.
2. The dial-up software for your operating system When you are travelling abroad, you can use the dial-up software to dial in at the nearest iPass Service access point for the cost of a local call. To do this, you can use the iPass Service user name and password you receive from us. This information is transferred to green.ch in encrypted form and checked. Then you can use all Internet services. SDSLBecause green-SDSL operates on the Swisscom DSL backbone, we recommend that you use only devices that have been tested and approved by Swisscom. Follow the ‘Hardware’ link for a complete list of these devices. Scripting For sendmail you use following path: /usr/sbin/sendmail -t
You find perl under: /usr/bin/perl For reasons of safety the CGI scpript gets run in a CHROOT surrounding (indipendant of the system). The mails get sent over mini_sendmail (Light version of sendmail), which works in the CHROOT.
The application mini_sendmail supports only the options -t, that means the options -bm -f -oem -oi do not work and generate error messages. You have to adjust your scripts according to this, so that the sending of mails is possible. We use a loadbalancing system. The amount of the requests get balanced on our webserver. That is the reason why you have to use following address to receive the IP address of the server:
my $remote_host = gethostbyaddr((inet_aton($ENV{'HTTP_X_CLUSTER_CLIENT_IP'}), AF_INET));
Attention: Do not forget to set following line at the beginning of your script:

Relative path for your file in the maindirectory through a cgi/bin script:
'/web/YourDirectory'; CGIYour cgi/perl scripts do not work anymore or you receive an error message "Can't chdir() to /mnt/sites/mysite.com/web/index.htm/../cgi-bin: Not a directory".
You have to follow according steps:
1.) Save your cgi/perl scripts.
2.) Delete the directory cgi-bin with FTP.
3.) Deactivate the CGI in the console.
4.) Re-activate the CGI in the console. The system will create automatically a cgi-bin directory.
5.) Publicize your script cgi/perl in the ASCII mode and check, that the rights are on 755.
6.) Your problem should now been solved. MySQLYou have two possibilities:
1.) Put the .sql file into the rootdirectory of your website. After that you can load the files with the import tool over the administrations console, https://admin.nexlink.ch > Database.
2.) You can use phpMyAdmin in the administrations console for uploading the files directly over the webbrowser. You can create new databases on you own when you go on our administration tool https://admin.nexlink.ch > Database.
Attention, you configure the MySQL password when you create the first database. Note it, if you want to set all following databases like the first one. PHPYou have to use the passiv mode to build up a successful connection.
Example:
// Connection establishment
$conn_id = ftp_connect('ftp.meinedomain.com');
// Authentication with login and password
$login_result = ftp_login($conn_id, 'userid', 'passwort');
// Activation of the passiv mode
ftp_pasv($conn_id, true);
// File listing
$contents = ftp_nlist($conn_id, ".");
// Show up of $contents
echo "Verbindung:";
var_dump($conn_id );
echo "Listing:";
var_dump($contents); To get further information about the configuration of php you have to click here... Use the function mysql_connect() to creat the database connection. Make sure that the connection gets closed again with mysql_close() after a query.
Notice: The function mysql_pconnect() is deactivated. Yes, this function is activated. PHP is a script language on a server which is based on OpenSource. It is especially capable with dynamic websites which are multifunctional and popular. For more information www.php.net Every file gets interpreted automatically of the PHP engine when the ending is with .php. The endings .php3 and .php4 are also possible. Security, privacy and availability Lawful Interception = monitoring that is sanctioned by law.
Pursuant to the Bundesrat Order on Monitoring Mail and Telecommunications (VÜPF, version 13.7.04, 5. section), all e-mail service providers must keep customer data, access data and the logfiles on Internet activities inc. e-mail header information for 6 months. This data must be made available to the UVEK (Swiss Federal Department of Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications) according to a prescribed procedure upon demand.
You can read the original text of the order and additional information at: http://www.admin.ch/ch/d/sr/c780_11.html Complying with the Bundesrat Order on Monitoring Mail and Telecommunications (VÜPF, version 13.7.04) entails considerable expense.
green.ch is forced to pass a proportional fraction of these costs to the corresponding products.
In the interests of all customers and a highly available infrastructure, green.ch goes to great lengths to offer all its services within the limits of legal requirements. There are only two cases in which data, particularly logfiles and e-mail data, can be issued to third parties:
- If the customer provides his consent
- In response to a court order to the authority in question.
Information regarding the sender's mail server, e-mail address, date and delivery path is stored. The e-mail header corresponds to the envelope in the letter and thus contains no information about the content. As a Swiss Internet provider, green.ch is governed by the laws of Switzerland. Customer and access data as well as log files on Internet activities must be kept for the legally prescribed period of 6 months
There are only two cases in which data, particularly logfiles and e-mail data, can be issued to third parties:

For more information on data protection, please visit the Website of the Swiss Federal Data Protection Commissioner at www.edsb.ch Regarding Internet access (dial-up or permanent), information about online time will be recorded together with the telephone number and the assigned IP address. Regarding sending e-mails, the header data of e-mails is kept for 6 months Like the envelope for a letter sent by regular mail, this e-mail header data includes information about the sender, the time the mail was sent, the routing path, and the addressee.
Important:
The content of the e-mail is not included in the e-mail header information, i.e. the contents cannot be seen or retained! Spam and virus protection No, neither attachments nor e-mails are deleted. The spam filter marks the e-mail as spam (subject tagging), and with Outlook 2003 these e-mails can be processed automatically by the user. The term spam is used to describe unsolicited e-mails, usually sent for advertising purposes. Yes, green.ch offers spam protection for all e-mail accounts. E-mails that have been identified as spam on our server, will be rejected with the following error:
5.2.0 smtp;552 5.2.0 Message content rejected for policy!!
- Never answer these spam e-mails.
- In the case of e-mails from serious advertisers whom you know, you can have yourself removed from their mailing list by sending an e-mail with 'unsubscribe' in the subject line.
- Under no circumstances should you do this for dubious spam senders, though, because you would simply be confirming that this is an active e-mail address, and that would really open the floodgates.
- In your green.ch mailbox you can set up corresponding filters in Webmail. This function is under 'Settings/Properties/Filters. But exercise due care so that you catch only the corresponding spam mail and not the e-mails you need as well.
Yes, this can happen. These are called "False positives". "False positives" are false alarms when detecting spam or other items that can damage computers such as viruses or worms. Emails, which get verified as spam, get rejected with the error message: 552 5.2.0 Message content rejected for policy reasons (msgid="xxxxxxxxxxx") and do not arrive the in-box. If you see the above text in the mail attachment, the antivirus program has blocked a file. This is a precautionary measure for protecting your computer from viruses that use these kinds of executable files. If you still want to receive or send a file of this type, you or the sender must pack the file in question in a Zip or Jar file. If you see the above text in the mail attachment, the antivirus program has detected and blocked a virus.
