Replay advertising on Green TV

Replay mode allows you to watch TV shows at a later date and also skip through commercial breaks using the fast-forward function. However, TV broadcasters are increasingly losing out on advertising revenue as a result. Under pressure from TV broadcasters, a new industry agreement for replay TV has now been concluded after lengthy negotiations, and the loss of advertising revenue will be charged to all TV providers like Green, Swisscom or Zattoo.

Currently, 19 TV stations are participating in the new industry agreement - mainly private stations from German-speaking Switzerland and Germany.

What will change for TV customers?

You will now see replay ads when watching replay TV (during live pauses, in replay TV and in recordings). Replay ads will only be shown on participating channels, not on other channels.

If you do not want replay advertising, you can activate the new Replay Comfort option to your Green TV Comfort subscription for CHF 6.90/month. With the Replay Comfort option activated, no replay ads will be displayed and you can skip the TV ads - even on many other channels.

On which channels are the replay ads played?

The following 19 TV stations participate in the industry agreement.

CH Media:	3+, 4+, 5+, 6+, 7+/Nick Schweiz, TV24, TV25, S1
Seven.One Entertainment Group with Swiss advertising Window:	ProSieben, SAT.1, Kabel Eins, ProSieben Maxx, SAT.1 Gold, Sixx, Puls 8
RTL Deutschland with Swiss advertising Window:	RTL, VOX, RTLZWEI, Nitro

Nothing changes for all other TV stations.

When will the replay ads be displayed?

Replay ads are shown on the participating stations when

A replay broadcast is started
A program that has been started is restarted from the beginning
Recorded programs are watched in the first 7 days
Live Pause is pressed in the live signal, in replay or in recordings

What are the types of replay ads?

Start-Ad

When: Starting replay usage or jumping back to the beginning of a show on live TV.
What: Very short ad with a length of 5 -7 seconds, which can not be skipped.

Pause-Ad

When: Pressing the pause button in live TV, replay TV or recordings.
What: Static image for the entire length of the pause

Fast-Forward-Ad

When: Activating the rewind function at the beginning or within a TV commercial.
What: Ads that cannot be skipped

Existing customers: What does the new replay advertising mean for me?

With our Green TV Comfort you can use the 7 days replay as usual. You will receive replay advertising on the participating channels. Nothing changes on all other channels.

If you do not want to receive replay advertising, you can activate the Replay Comfort option in addition to your existing Green TV Comfort subscription. With the Replay Comfort option activated, no replay ads will be shown and you can skip the TV commercials by the second.

In the next few weeks, the subscriptions of our existing customers will be adjusted. You will be informed in advance and given the opportunity to activate the Replay Comfort option.
New customers: What does the new replay advertising mean for me?

With our Green TV Comfort you can use the 7 days replay. You will receive replay advertising on the participating channels. On all other channels, no replay advertising will be played.

Are there more stations to come?

In 2023, more TV stations are expected to join, such as TeleZüri, TeleBärn, Tele1, Tele M1, TVO, Telebasel, Léman bleu, Tele Ticino, Tele Top, Tele Südostschweiz, Canal Alpha, Canal9/Kanal9, La Télé, Tele Bielingue and SWISS 1, n-tv, SUPER RTL.

It is also possible that some broadcasters will again withdraw from the industry agreement.
Which Green TV subscriptions will be affected by the changes to Replay TV?

Green TV Start
Nothing changes with the TV Start subscription, as no replay TV is possible with this subscription.

Green TV Comfort
With the TV Comfort subscription, replay advertising is now played on the participating channels. You have the option to activate the Replay Comfort option. With the activated option Replay Comfort no replay commercials will be shown and you can skip the TV commercials by the second - also on many other channels.
