Sustainability at Green
The next phase of digital transformation – driven by cloud technologies and AI – demands a secure, resilient and energy-efficient infrastructure. As a leading data center operator in Switzerland, we at Green actively take responsibility for this. With innovative technologies, we create long-term solutions for people and the environment that benefit everyone. For us, sustainability is not a separate programme, but an integral part of our corporate strategy:
- Construction: For us, sustainable building means using resources responsibly, reducing emissions and integrating ecological aspects into planning, procurement and implementation at an early stage.
- Data Center Operations: We operate our data centers with 100% renewable energy, continuously increase the energy efficiency of our infrastructure and make meaningful use of waste heat. Through recognised certifications, we ensure that sustainability, quality and security are firmly embedded in our operations.
- Customers: Together with our customers, we design more sustainable IT infrastructures. From planning and deployment to ongoing operations, we provide support with best practices and defined operational standards for the efficient use of energy and resources. In addition, we offer the option to source electricity from renewable energy sources. Together, we create the conditions for reducing CO₂ emissions and ensuring the responsible operation of digital infrastructures.
The Road to Net Zero
We are committed to the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement and pursue the target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. The publication of our Carbon Footprint Report creates transparency regarding our emissions and forms the basis for an effective and verifiable climate strategy.
Our approach is based on the continuous improvement of energy and resource efficiency, the use of renewable energy, and the ongoing optimisation of our infrastructure and operational processes. Through targeted investments and measurable measures, we are gradually reducing our emissions and making an active contribution to a climate-compatible digital future.

What we do
100% Renewable Energy
We cover 100 per cent of the energy required to operate our data centers and offices with renewable energy. Our customers also have the option to source 100 per cent renewable energy for their IT load.
Driving Energy Efficiency through Expertise
Energy efficiency is a core component of our data centers, from planning right through to operations. Our cooling concepts are based on highly efficient air cooling, where architecture, airflow and technical infrastructure are precisely coordinated. This allows natural ambient air to be used for free cooling on more than 300 days a year, significantly reducing the energy required for cooling. At the same time, we continuously record and analyse hundreds of data points to constantly optimise our systems. In this way, we steadily develop our data centers and create the foundation for energy-efficient and resource-saving operations.
Minimal Water Consumption (WUE)
Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE) is a key metric for assessing the water efficiency of data centers. Through the use of closed-loop water systems, no water is consumed for cooling during the ongoing operations of our data centers. As a result, the WUE value for our data center operations is zero. This approach reduces the consumption of valuable water resources and underlines our commitment to continuously minimise environmental impacts and operate our infrastructure as resource-efficiently as possible.
Recognised & Certified
Our certifications create transparency and demonstrate the rigorous implementation of internationally recognised standards in the areas of information security, business continuity, data protection, energy management, and occupational health and safety. Regular audits and independent assessments ensure that our processes are continuously reviewed and further developed. In this way, we create a reliable foundation for secure, efficient and sustainable data center operations.
Circular Economy
The circular economy is an important component of our sustainability strategy. This is why all new data centers are planned in such a way that their waste heat can be integrated into existing or future district heating networks. Together with municipalities, energy suppliers and heating network operators, we create the conditions to make this energy usable for heating and process heat applications. As a result, fossil fuels can be replaced, CO₂ emissions reduced, and valuable resources used more efficiently. In this way, our data centers make a contribution to a sustainable energy supply that goes beyond their primary function.
Sustainable Construction
When developing new data centers, we take sustainability aspects into account right from the outset. This includes the conscious use of materials, the reduction of CO₂ emissions during the construction process, efficient logistics, and clear requirements for our suppliers and partners. At the same time, we plan our infrastructure to ensure it meets future technological and operational demands. In this way, we create the foundation for resource-efficient, adaptable and future-proof data centers infrastructures.
