Where can I find the OTO ID for my apartment?

The OTO ID is printed directly on the fiber-optic outlet in your apartment, known as the OTO outlet. It is usually located in the living room, entrance area, or hallway, and in newer buildings it may be inside the multimedia cabinet. The OTO ID generally begins with an A or a B followed by a sequence of numbers. If no ID is visible, your property management company or property owner can help.

What is the OTO ID and what is it used for?

The OTO ID is the unique identifier for your fiber-optic outlet. Each OTO outlet has its own number, which is assigned only once. Internet providers need it to clearly identify and activate your fiber-optic connection. It is typically requested when you place an order or when an existing copper connection is upgraded to fiber.

Where exactly can I find the OTO ID?

The OTO ID is printed on the label of the fiber-optic outlet. Follow these steps:

  • Locate the fiber-optic outlet. In older buildings, it is often located in the living room, entrance area, or hallway, usually near the floor and close to existing telephone or cable outlets. In newer buildings, it is often located inside the multimedia cabinet, typically in the hallway, utility room, or storage room.
  • Read the number on the label. It usually begins with an A or a B followed by a sequence of numbers, for example A.123.456.789 or B.123.456.789.X.
  • Write down the complete number, including the letter and periods. The ports on the outlet are also numbered from 1 to 4. Your provider will tell you which port to use when your connection is activated.

  • Does having an OTO outlet mean I can use fiber immediately?

    Not necessarily. The OTO outlet indicates that fiber has been installed up to your apartment. Whether the connection has been activated and which provider can use it is determined by the provider's availability check. The OTO ID is used to identify the connection.

  • Why does my OTO ID start with A or B?

    The letter at the beginning indicates the version of the identification system. The current system uses a B, while older IDs use an A. This does not affect how you find or provide your OTO ID. What matters is that you provide the complete number, including the letter and periods.

  • Do I need to find the OTO ID myself before placing an order?

    Not necessarily. If a fiber-optic outlet is already installed, providing the OTO ID makes activation easier. If the outlet or number is missing, you can still order the connection. The necessary information can then be added during the ordering process or obtained through the property management company.
