Why did HINT AG choose Green instead of building its own data center?
Greater protection for sensitive healthcare data
As an IT partner to healthcare institutions, HINT carries significant responsibility for safeguarding sensitive information and ensuring the uninterrupted availability of critical applications. The company operated its infrastructure across two data center locations, but an assessment revealed that one of the facilities would no longer be able to meet future requirements. In particular, its security capabilities had reached their limits, and modernizing the site was no longer considered a viable option.
To identify the right replacement, HINT worked with a specialized consulting firm to develop a comprehensive evaluation framework. Key criteria included best-in-class security standards, maximum availability, relevant certifications, a low-risk geographic location close to its secondary site in Glattbrugg, and robust network connectivity. The solution also needed to provide sufficient capacity for future growth while maintaining high levels of energy efficiency.
A data center that stood out from the competition
Following the evaluation process, HINT selected the Green data center at the campus ZRH1 in Lupfig. Green met all predefined requirements and outperformed competing providers in a direct comparison. «Once the evaluation was complete, the results clearly pointed to Green's data center», says Markus Goldschmid, CEO of HINT. «It was simply the best overall fit.»
Another important factor was the site's location. The facility is positioned at an appropriate distance from HINT's existing primary data center while remaining conveniently close to the company's headquarters in Lenzburg.
To support the continued expansion of its IT environment, HINT deployed a private cage within the Green data center. Most of the cabling and rack installation work was delivered by Green.

By relocating to Green, HINT gained access to a state-of-the-art data center infrastructure without having to invest in constructing and operating its own facility. Instead of allocating resources to power systems, cooling infrastructure, or physical security, the company can now focus entirely on its core mission: delivering and continuously improving first-class IT services for the healthcare sector.
