Subscription change of owner
A change of owner (COO) means that an existing subscription is transferred to another customer account.
A change of owner can be carried out for all Green subscriptions, for example:
- Internet subscriptions
- Business Connect and site networking solutions
- Hosting subscriptions
- Mail hosting subscriptions
- Domains
- Backup solutions
- Server and cloud services
- Rack and colocation services
- Managed Services
- and other Green subscriptions and services
A change of owner is typically used when a subscription is to be transferred to another person or company. Possible examples include the transfer of an Internet connection to a new tenant, the transfer of a hosting subscription to another company, the sale of a website including the domain, or the transfer of a business or association.
The current owner confirms the transfer of the subscription. The new owner provides their existing customer number or the required information so that a new customer account can be created.
The subscription will only be assigned to the new customer account after the change of owner process has been successfully completed.
No Successor Available
If no successor is available, the subscription can instead be cancelled.

COO Form
A Change of Owner Form (COO Form) is available for a change of owner.
You can find the form here:

The form can be used to transfer either all subscriptions associated with a customer number or selected subscriptions to another customer.
Processing Time
The processing time for a change of owner depends on the affected subscription and the individual circumstances of the request.
Delays may occur, for example, due to:
- incomplete, incorrect or illegible forms
- outstanding invoices or pending payments
- ongoing debt collection or deactivation processes
- additional confirmation steps for domains, such as IRTP procedures
- technical dependencies between multiple subscriptions
- subscriptions that must first be separated or adjusted before the change of owner
- additional technical, organisational or regulatory requirements
- other unforeseeable factors that may affect processing
The more complete the information provided in the COO form, the faster the request can usually be processed.
If a preferred takeover date is specified in the COO form, efforts will be made to accommodate it whenever possible. Especially for requests submitted well in advance, this may simplify planning. However, a binding commitment cannot be guaranteed due to possible technical, organisational or regulatory dependencies.
Billing and Contract Transfer
Where possible, outstanding invoices should be paid before the change of owner. Outstanding claims, debt collection proceedings or other contractual restrictions may delay or prevent the processing of a change of owner.
With the change of owner, the affected subscription is transferred to the customer account of the new owner. After successful completion, the contact details associated with the subscription, such as the billing address, are updated to the new owner.
The customer account of the previous owner generally remains unchanged. A change of owner does not transfer the customer account itself, but only moves the selected subscription to another customer account.
Additional subscriptions, domains or services are only transferred if they are explicitly listed in the change of owner form.
By signing the COO form, both parties confirm that the subscription is being taken over and continued under the existing contractual terms and conditions.
After the successful change of owner, the subscription is assigned to the customer account of the new owner. Future invoices will be addressed to the new owner. The new owner can then manage the subscription through their own my.green.ch account.
Depending on the product, contract duration and current situation, special offers or promotions may be available for existing subscriptions. This may apply, for example, to certain Internet subscriptions for which promotional offers or individual solutions are occasionally available to existing customers. After the change of owner has been completed, the new owner may contact Support to enquire whether such options are currently available for the relevant subscription.
Special Considerations for Domains
For domains, an additional domain owner contact (handle) may be stored. This contains the contact details of the domain owner and is used for administrative purposes in domain management.
After a change of owner, it may happen that the details shown in the domain owner contact do not meet expectations or that different information is displayed there than in the customer account.
This does not automatically mean that the change of owner has failed. Domain handles and customer accounts are managed differently depending on the domain extension, registrar and registry.
If you have questions about the displayed owner contact data or would like to learn more about domain handles, you can find further information in the article “Domain Handle / Owner Contact”:

For domains, a distinction is also made between a change of owner (COO) and an IRTP procedure. Although both processes may relate to changes in domain ownership data, they are different procedures.
- Change of owner (COO): Transfers a subscription to another customer account.
- IRTP procedure: Confirms changes to domain owner data in accordance with registry requirements and does not replace a change of owner.
Depending on the domain extension, registrar or responsible registry, additional confirmations, validations or further steps may be required after a change of owner.
Further information about the IRTP procedure can be found here:

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Does the new owner already need to be a Green customer?
No. If no customer account exists yet, a new customer account can be created as part of the change of owner process. The required information must be entered completely in the COO form.
Are all subscriptions transferred during a change of owner?
No. Only those subscriptions, domains or services that are explicitly listed in the change of owner form will be transferred.
Is the existing customer account transferred?
No. The customer account of the previous owner remains unchanged. Only the selected subscription is transferred to another customer account as part of the change of owner.
Can I transfer just a single domain?
Yes. Individual subscriptions, individual domains or multiple services can be selected in the change of owner form.
Can I change a domain handle without carrying out a change of owner?
Yes. Updating a domain owner contact (handle) is possible independently of a change of owner. The domain remains assigned to the existing customer account.
Is an existing domain handle automatically transferred?
No. Domain handles are linked to customer accounts. For a new customer account, a new default handle is generally created. For existing customer accounts, the already existing default handle is usually used.
How long does a change of owner take?
The processing time depends on the affected product, the completeness of the information provided and any technical or organisational dependencies. If a preferred takeover date is specified, every effort will be made to take it into account where possible.
Can a change of owner be rejected or delayed?
Yes. For example, incomplete forms, outstanding claims, ongoing debt collection proceedings, technical dependencies between subscriptions or additional confirmation steps for domains may lead to delays or temporary rejection.
