Talk Green Talk Position

What does the “Talk” invoice item mean?

The “Talk” or “Green Talk” item on your invoice refers to your fixed-line connection and the associated telephone number.

If this item appears on your invoice for the first time, this does not automatically mean that a new telephony subscription was ordered or that an existing contract was changed. It may relate to an existing telephone number that is still active.

In one documented customer case, the invoice item was listed as “Item 2.2 Talk”. Depending on the product and billing, separate items may also appear for a flat rate, calls made or a credit.

Why has the item started appearing on the invoice?

For certain existing telephone connections that were previously provided without a monthly basic fee, a monthly basic fee of CHF 2.90 has been charged since 1 January 2026. The customers concerned were informed at the end of November 2025 about this price adjustment and the adjusted national and international call rates. According to this notification, the prices of the existing flat-rate offers remained unchanged.

Some customers no longer remember that they originally ordered the telephone connection together with the Internet subscription. This may occur particularly if the telephone number was previously free of charge, was never used or no telephone is connected.

The fact that a telephone number is not used, no telephone is connected or the original order is no longer remembered does not terminate the telephony subscription. The connection remains active and subject to charges until the subscription is properly cancelled.

Difference between CHF 2.90 and CHF 4.90

The amounts of CHF 2.90 and CHF 4.90 relate to different situations and must not be confused with one another.

  • CHF 2.90 per month applies to certain existing telephone connections that were previously provided without a monthly basic fee. A monthly basic fee has been charged for these connections since 1 January 2026.
  • CHF 4.90 per month corresponds to the currently offered “Talk” basic telephony subscription with one telephone number in conjunction with an Internet subscription from Green.

Basic fee and flat rate

The basic fee for the telephone connection and a flat rate are two different services.

  • The basic fee is charged for the active telephone connection or telephone number.
  • An additionally booked flat rate exclusively covers the call minutes included in it.

Even if a flat rate is active, the basic fee for the telephone connection still applies. The flat rate does not replace the basic fee.

Available flat rates

  • Flat rate S: CHF 9.90 per month, including 3'000 minutes to the Swiss fixed-line network
  • Flat rate M: CHF 13.90 per month, including 3'000 minutes to the Swiss fixed-line network and 500 minutes to the Swiss mobile network
  • Flat rate L: CHF 29.90 per month, including 3'000 minutes to the supported fixed-line and mobile networks in Switzerland and the listed international countries

Call charges without a flat rate

Without a suitable flat rate, calls made are charged according to the applicable tariff list.

  • Calls to all Swiss fixed-line networks: CHF 0.07 per minute
  • Calls to the Green telephone network: free of charge
  • Calls to Swiss mobile networks: CHF 0.29 per minute
  • International calls: depending on the country called and whether a fixed-line or mobile number is called
  • Short and special numbers: depending on the respective number and the associated tariff

Calls are billed by the second. No distinction is made between peak and off-peak rates. The applicable tariff list is authoritative.

Note: If you cannot determine why the “Talk” item appears on your invoice or whether the telephone number is still actively used, contact Support.

Cancelling Green Talk

Green Talk is an optional additional service and can be cancelled independently of the Internet subscription. If you cancel only Green Talk, your Internet subscription remains active.

When the telephony subscription ends, the telephone number and the associated telephony functions are discontinued. If you no longer need the telephone number, you must properly cancel Green Talk so that the monthly basic fee is no longer charged after the contract ends.

Green Talk is generally subject to a cancellation period of two months.

Cancellations by telephone are not accepted. You can submit the cancellation through the my.green.ch customer portal. Alternatively, you can submit a written and signed cancellation as a PDF file or by post.

Further information about cancelling services can be found in the following article.

https://www.green.ch/en/cancellation-of-services

Note: In individual cases, the cancellation may not be processed directly due to a technical or administrative particularity. Contact Support if Green Talk continues to be shown as active despite the submitted cancellation or is charged after the confirmed contract end date. Keep any cancellation confirmation available.

Transferring the telephone number to another provider

If you would like to transfer your existing fixed-line number to another provider, initiate the porting process before the final contract end date.

Porting several months after the contract has ended cannot be guaranteed. It depends on the processes of the providers involved and other factors.

Credit during a minimum contract term

For certain customers who had concluded the contract shortly before the announced price adjustment and were still within a minimum contract term, a one-time credit could be issued until the end of the minimum contract term following an individual review.

In this case, the monthly fee of CHF 2.90 continues to appear on the invoice. The corresponding amount is offset by a separate one-time credit. For example, if the remaining minimum contract term is 13 months, the credit amounts to 13 × CHF 2.90 and therefore CHF 37.70.

This credit is not a general entitlement. It was provided for specific cases within an existing minimum contract term and following an individual review.
